With the pretty colors but if you don’t want to click through to the data table:

Some observations:

  • LAFC has been the best team by a wide margin, Miami the worst by a wide margin. Montreal and Charlotte may well race to the bottom, based on how they’ve looked. If I’m a Seattle fan, I’m not worried about my distance from LAFC at this stage.
  • Your luck leaderboard includes a couple teams that have produced little xG but found good results… plus Miami which has produced little and achieved little. Just behind them, St. Louis is decent but the results are a major overachievement (and keeping in mind how like two or three of their xG on the year have come about… lucky in terms of producing that xG, as well).
  • From a local perspective, Nashville SC fans can be proud of an elite defense (particularly because they’re overachieving already-elite numbers), but the attack remains a little on the scary side. The silver lining is that the three wins have come by an aggregate of 6-0… on 2.90-3.00 xG. Game state effects make the expected goals in those games misleading. The problem is that they’re scoreless on 3.00 xG in the other four games this year.

OK thanks. Talk to ya later!
