Is it happening? From Club release:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 24, 2022) – Nashville Soccer Club announced today the club has recalled Elliot Panicco from his loan with Indy Eleven of the USL Championship.
Panicco will be available for selection for Nashville SC beginning this Wednesday in the club’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 match against Louisville City FC.
While with Indy, Panicco made 10 appearances with two clean sheets and a goals-against average of 1.00. He has also won in five of his last six appearances in net.
In the 2021 season Panicco was loaned to Austin Bold where he established himself as one of the premier keepers in the USL Championship. Panicco started in 28 matches, with a goals-against average under 1.00. He earned 11 clean sheets, tied for second most in the league.
Nashville SC originally selected Panicco with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2020 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, presented by adidas, and was signed to an MLS contract on Feb. 25, 2020.
Nashville SC release
Certainly it’s an odd bit of timing if the intention is not for him to play (or at least be the No. 2 behind Joe Willis) against Louisville City FC tomorrow night. Panicco was Nashville’s third keeper in his rookie year, and spent 2021 on loan with Austin Bold (r.i.p.) in USL.
Willis has played every competitive minute in Nashville SC’s history since the jump to MLS. Panicco was between the pipes in a 1-1 Indy draw at Louisville City early this Summer. Austin did not play Louisville last year.
