Nashville SC exorcises some demons against Real Salt Lake, and the man who scored the game-winning goal – and played a major role in RSL’s impotent attack – is honored on MLS Team of Week 10. Dave Romney makes the starting lineup with Dax McCarty featuring on the bench.
Romney scored Nashville SC’s opening goal – ultimately the game-winner – volleying home a rebound in the 63rd minute after Walker Zimmerman’s shot was saved off the line. Romney also completed 49/61 passes, made one clearance and one ball recovery, and committed one foul. Real Salt Lake accumulated only 0.27 expected goals in the game, a season low, and the 10th-lowest for any team this season.
It is the seventh Team of the Week selection for Nashville so far this season, and Romney’s second honor already. Midfielder Aníbal Godoy and head coach Gary Smith earned the honor in Week One, Walker Zimmerman got the nod after Week Four, Romney and Randall Leal in Week Six, and Hany Mukhtar in Week eight.
