Although the season has resumed in full swing, Nashville SC still has a few players plying their trade away from home. These are their stories. [law and order svu sound]
Winger David Accam
On loan to Hammarby IF in Sweden
Hammarby’s summer break in the Allsvenskan has come to an end, and the team resumed its schedule with a 1-1 draw against Halmstad Sunday. Accam entered the match as a 58th-minute substitute, and it took him just 14 minutes to find the back of the net, providing his team’s only tally on the day:
Hammarby stands eighth in the league through 9 of 30 match rounds.

Midfielder Aníbal Godoy
On international duty with Panama in the Gold Cup
After Saturday’s match, Godoy and the other Gold Cup players knew they’d played their last game for Nashville until after the group stage of Concacaf’s championship tournament. Their travel day was yesterday, and Panama’s group stage begins against Qatar in a week.

Defender Alistair Johnston
With Canada for the Gold Cup
Johnston joined Canada’s Gold Cup camp yesterday. The Canucks begin their journey against Martinique Sunday.

Defender Miguel Nazarit
On loan to Independiente Santa Fe in Colombia
Santa Fe’s preseason has begun for the second portion of the 2021 season (Finalización – analogous to the Clausura in Mexico/Central America). Nazarit has hit the field in his team’s preseason – though exactly how much is unknown given that they have been behind closed doors, with still images the evidence of his appearance – and is expected to play a larger role than he did for Los Leones last year.
Up next: Independiente Santa Fe v. Once Caldas in a preseason friendly • Wednesday (time TBD – behind closed doors)
Defender Walker Zimmerman
With the USMNT for the Gold Cup
Zimmerman traveled to the USMNT camp in Kansas City Monday. He will almost certainly be in the lineup when the US begins Group B play… but the opponent is still to be determined, with Bermuda and Haiti playing this evening in Fort Lauderdale for the right.
Up next: USMNT v. Bermuda or Haiti in Gold Cup Group B • Sunday, 7:30 p.m. CDT in Kansas City (Paramount+)
Goalkeeper Defender Nick Hinds and goalkeeper Elliot Panicco
On season-long loans to Austin Bold FC in USL Championship. Nashville has right of recall if necessary.
Austin beat San Antonio FC 1-0 in Alamo City on Saturday. Both Panicco and Hinds started and went the distance for the victors. It was a chippy game, with eight yellow cards (including one for Panicco) and a straight-red that left Bold FC shorthanded for the final 30 minutes of action.
Panicco made five saves in the shutout victory. He completed 18/37 passes (all but one attempt long as Bold made no attempt to play out of the back), and won an aerial duel(?), while picking up the yellow for time-wasting in the 77th. Have to imagine that’s Team of the Week-worthy, though USL has not announced Week 11 honors yet. UPDATE: Nope. San Diego Loyal’s Austin Guerrero earned the nod.
Hinds completed 20/27 passes and won 3/9 duels (0/1 aerial), made three tackles and three clearances, and had one unsuccessful crossing attempt.
