Nashville SC’s come-from-behind draw at Atlanta United has netted a league-wide honor for the player who bucketed both goals: Designated Player Hany Mukhtar. Mukhtar finished third in MLS Player of the Week voting, behind LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jonathan Bond (who won the honor) and Sporting Kansas City midfielder Gianluca Busio.

Mukhtar scored in the 80th and 83rd minutes in Mercedes Benz Stadium to earn Nashville a 2-2 draw after falling 2-0 down to the Five Stripes. He also completed 79% of his passes, took one additional shot (off-target), and won nine of his 15 duels. He scored a brace for the second time in his NSC career – and is the only player to do so for the MLS side.
It is the first Team of the Week honor for Mukhtar in 2021, though he was selected twice (including a Player of the Week honor) last season. He is the fourth selection for Nashville this season, with Joe Willis getting the nod after Week Three, and Alex Muyl and Walker Zimmerman both members of the TOTW after Week Four.
Nashville SC currently sits eighth in the Eastern Conference with a 2-0-5 record. The Boys in Gold next take the pitch after the international break, traveling to New York Red Bulls June 18.
