The pick is in. With the No. 20 overall selection in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft, Nashville SC selected midfielder Irakoze Donasiyano out of the University of Virginia.

The 5-9, 155-pounder originally hails from Tanzania, but lived in Roanoke, Va. prior to his matriculation at UVa. He gained his US citizenship in 2020, and will not occupy an international slot on the NSC roster.
Donasiyano played in 58 games as a Hoo, 49 of them in the starting lineup. HIs strongest years were in 2018 and 2019, scoring a goal and recording two assists during his sophomore campaign, and four goals and six assists when he was a junior. UVa lost the NCAA title game during the latter year, with Donsiyano recording an assist while taking two shots during the contest, and also bagging his attempt in the shootout, which his team ultimately lost 7-6.
He played largely as a No. 8 box-to-box midfielder in Virginia’s 4-3-3 formation.
Nashville SC has four picks remaining in the 2021 SuperDraft.
