Nashville SC announces pair of schedule adjustments

A game is on the move, while game No. 23 has (finally) been announced. From Club release:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 8, 2020) – Nashville Soccer Club announced today in conjunction with Major League Soccer that the club’s match against the New England Revolution, originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, has been moved up a day to Friday, Oct. 23. In addition, the Boys in Gold will close out their three-match series against FC Dallas, rescheduled from the MLS Is Back Tournament, on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Both matches will kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT from Nissan Stadium.

Nashville earned a 1W-0L-1D record and four points in the first two matches against FC Dallas in Frisco, Texas on Aug. 12 and 16. The final match of the series on Nov. 4 will be the only contest played in Nashville and will represent match five of the 2020 MLS Regular Season for both clubs.

Nashville SC will host fans throughout the month of October and into November, with tickets available for purchase here. In addition to adjusting the seating charts to reflect best social distancing practices, the club will follow Nissan Stadium’s Safe Stadium Plan – https://www.nashvillesc.com/safestadium.

The Boys in Gold return to action on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. CT as they visit Sporting Kansas City, presented by Renasant Bank, on MyTV30, ESPN 94.9 for English radio and El Jefe in Spanish at 7:30 p.m. CT.

The Revs move is obviously to accommodate the rescheduled Titans/Steelers game for that Sunday. A little more time to make the flip between soccer and football is necessary. It also takes Nashville from the final Eastern Conference game Saturday evening to the first matchup of the game week. A little more rest before a trip to “Montreal” (a word which here means “Red Bull Arena for a game against Montreal Impact”) is nice. It does make for a tight back-to-back against Dallas and then the Rev, with games Tuesday and Friday – though at least they’re both home.

The COVID Cup finale against FCD (Current standings: Nashville four points and a +1 GD, Dallas one point and a -1 GD) will be one of just a couple mid-week games between Decision Day and the preceding weekend (coincidentally, one of the others is a Colorado makeup game for that teams own – later – issues with a coronavirus outbreak on the team). The timing does mean that Nashville won’t make up it game in-hand until the final week of the regular season – there’s a tiny bit of house money and points-per-game wrangling that will go into table analyses before then.

NSC is currently 10th in the Eastern Conference, level with Atlanta United on 18 points (but behind in the wins tiebreaker), though the Boys in Gold do hold that game in hand. New York Red Bulls and Montreal Impact are just two points ahead of Nashville, so theoretically that game in-hand could be valuable enough to go as high as seventh in the standings as things stand today.

Analysis of playoff hopes, potential seeding, etc. is still premature. However, I’m an insane person (as you all know), so after this weekend’s round of games, I’ll probably start taking a look at that – and rooting guides – as long as it remains relevant.
