Another former Nashville SC U-23 player has been selected by the Boys in Gold in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft. Florida Gulf Coast forward Shak Adams will have an opportunity to play for his hometown team.
The native of Antioch, Tenn. played four years for the Eagles, and was a full-time starter from his sophomore year onward. In 71 appearances (50 starts), Adams notched 23 goals and 16 assists. He took 110 shots, 51 of them on-frame in his four years. He was Freshman All-Atlantic Sun in his first year in Naples, and First-Team All-ASUN the subsequent three years.
In his lone season with the Nashville SC Premier Development League (now USL League Two), he played in 13 games and scored four goals for the Boys in Gold, tied for the third-highest total on the team.
The 5-7, 138-pounder will turn 22 in September, so he’s no spring chicken from a developmental standpoint. He’ll likely join Nashville SC as an unsigned draft pick in preseason and have to earn his spot on the final roster.
Much more to come on Adams.
