Nashville SC has added MLS players in the past week – but one of them still hit the pitch this week in national team duty. Randall Leal continued doing Randall Leal things. The latest roundup from the NSC diaspora.
Randall Leal – with Deportivo Saprissa until January transfer window
Leal was called up to the Costa Rica National Team for Nations League games against Curaçao and Haiti.
He was a 70th-minute substitute in the 2-1 win over Curaçao, and provided the game-winning assist on a corner kick in the 83rd minute.
He was in the starting lineup as an attacking central midfielder in a highly-defensive 5-3-2 formation in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Haiti. He took one shot and was caught offside once before exiting in a 60th minute substitution.
With the results, Costa Rica wins Nations League League A’s Group D, and will face Mexico in the semifinal in June.
Up next: Leal is back in club action Tuesday as Saprissa continues its Concacaf League campaign with the second leg of the final series against Motagua (Honduras). Los Morados take a 1-0 lead to Motagua after taking a close victory in the home leg.
Daniel Lovitz – he’s in, y’all
Lovitz was called up for the United States’s Concacaf Nations League games against Canada and Cuba over the past week.
He was an unused substitute in the 4-1 victory against Canada, but was in the starting lineup and went 90 minutes against Los Leones del Caribe. He was 44/45 in his passing, and contributed corner kick service in addition to helping complete the clean sheet in a 4-0 victory.
Hany Mukhtar – with Brøndby IF until January transfer window
Brøndby was idle during the International Window, and Mukhtar was not called to Germany’s national team.
Up next: Brøndby travels to AGF Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. CST. The game will air on ESPN Plus in the United States.
