It’s been a little while – as Nashville SC has slumped on the pitch – but the Boys in Gold are once again represented on the Major League Soccer Team of the Week. Surprise surprise, it’s Hany Mukhtar reflecting well on the Boys in Gold.
Mukhtar scored two goals and assisted a third as Nashville SC knocked off FC Dallas 4-0 at GEODIS Park Sunday evening. His fifth-minute opener was a short-angle strike and goal of the week candidate, and he assisted Jacob Shaffelburg’s goal (in the latter’s NSC debut on loan from Toronto FC) in the 26th, before capping his goal contributions with a free kick seven minutes later. He nearly completed the hat trick on multiple occasions in the second half, but couldn’t quite find that third goal. He took three other shots on-target in the contest. He also completed 26/31 passes, completed 4/8 dribbles, made one tackle, and won 6/15 duels.
He is the 14th representative for Nashville SC this season. He was previously named in Weeks 8, 12, 14, 16. Dave Romney was on the list in Weeks 6 and 10, Randall Leal in Weeks 10 and 20, Gary Smith in Weeks 1 and 14, while Aníbal Godoy (1), Walker Zimmerman (4), and CJ Sapong (13) have one honor apiece.
