Goalkeeper Elliot Panicco
On loan with Indy Eleven in USL Championship
Panicco started and went the distance in Indy Eleven’s 2-1 win over RGV Toros on Saturday. He made two saves while allowing the goal, for a save percentage of 66.7%. Unlike usual, he was one of the major culprits for the goal he conceded:
Yes, his defense leaves a free runner in the box (and that guy is potentially offside?), but Panicco is way overcommitted to his near post when the player on the ball doesn’t have a shooting angle. Not the greatest sin, but rather a correctable error.
Panicco also had two punched clearances and three clearances with his feet, and completed 8 of his 16 passes (with Indy largely playing long, 10 of those attempts didn’t have much of a chance regardless of his individual skill).
Indy hosts Atlanta United 2 Saturday at 6 p.m. The game can be streamed on ESPN Plus.
Winger Rodrigo Piñeiro
On loan with Unión Española in Chile which Nashville SC has not announced or acknowledged for reasons that are unclear
Piñeiro started on the right wing in Unión Española’s 2-1 league win over Colo-Colo. Piñeiro received an 88th-minute yellow card, and with his team already down to 10 men, the risk of another red saw him subbed out in second-half stoppage time. With the win, Unión is level with Colo-Colo on 17 points through nine matchdates (though well behind on goal differential).
Unión Española next travels to La Serena, with a Friday afternoon tilt at 3:30 p.m. CDT (4:30 local).
