Hany Mukhtar named to MLS Team of Week 31

After a game-tying goal against Columbus Crew last night, Nashville SC midfielder Hany Mukhtar has been named to the Major League Soccer team of the week:

The German took four total shots and completed 85% of his passes. However, the crucial moment came in the 77th minute, when he charged into the box, collected a square ball from Daniel Ríos (perhaps intended for Ake Loba), and drilled it into the ground to bounce past keeper Eloy Room. It ultimately made the difference between a loss and a draw for the Boys in Gold.

He is the 16th Team of the Week selection for Nashville this season, and earned his team-high fourth honor. He was MLS Player of the Week runner-up after a brace in Week Seven, and POTW after an MLS-record hat trick in Week 13, and again in week 23. Joe Willis got the nod after Week Three, Alex Muyl and Zimmerman on the TOTW after Week Four, Luke Haakenson for his two-goal heroics in Week Nine, Randall Leal in Week Ten, striker CJ Sapong after weeks 15 and 19, Robert Castellanos in Week 16, Zimmerman again in Week 20, Dan Lovitz in Week 22, and Zimmerman in Weeks 24 and 29.
