Hany Mukhtar named MLS Player of Week 23

After a strong performance against New York City FC – in which he scored two goals – Nashville SC’s star player, Hany Mukhtar, is once again the MLS Player of the week. He is the only Nashville SC player ever to earn the honor – and this is the fourth time he’s done so.

In addition to his two goals, Mukhtar took three other shots (two on target), completed 77.8% of his passes, and was fouled once. He was also involved in a team-high 13 duels, winning six of them.

Mukhtar finished with 33.43% of the overall vote – 35.71% of North American Soccer Reporters ballots, and 26.57% of the fan vote. *

He is the 13th Team of the Week selection for Nashville this season, with Joe Willis getting the nod after Week Three, Alex Muyl and Walker Zimmerman on the TOTW after Week Four, Mukhtar after a brace in Week Seven and an MLS-record hat trick in Week 13, Luke Haakenson for his two-goal heroics in Week Nine, Randall Leal in Week Ten, striker CJ Sapong after weeks 15 and 19, Robert Castellanos in Week 16, Zimmerman again in Week 20, and Dan Lovitz last week.

In the interest of full disclosure, I serve on the board of NASR.
