Dan Lovitz named to MLS Team of the Week for Week 22

In a different role than his usual left-sided positioning, Nashville SC defender Dan Lovitz still managed to get the job done on the backend – and even added an assist. For his efforts, he was named to Major League Soccer’s Week 22 Team of the Week.

Lovitz slipped a throughball to Daniel Ríos for the game-opening goal, which was ultimately also the game winner. He completed 83.3% of his passes, made two tackles, and won 6/11 duels in the game. Most importantly, the Boys in Gold kept a clean sheet on the road to knock off a conference rival. He was not joined on the team by Joe Willis, although NSC’s veteran keeper was the only player at the position to earn votes in North American Soccer Reporters’ player of the week balloting, where he finished in sixth place.

He is the 12th selection for Nashville this season, with Joe Willis getting the nod after Week Three, Alex Muyl and Walker Zimmerman on the TOTW after Week Four, Hany Mukhtar after a brace in Week Seven and an MLS-record hat trick in Week 13, Luke Haakenson for his two-goal heroics in Week Nine, Randall Leal in Week Ten, striker CJ Sapong after weeks 15 and 19, Robert Castellanos in Week 16, and Zimmerman again in Week 20.
