After his return to the starting lineup – the culmination of a road to recovery since suffering hamstring injury in the Gold Cup July 18 – Wednesday evening, Nashville SC defender Walker Zimmerman was named to the MLS Team of the Week.
Zimmerman completed 38 of his 50 passes, took one shot, and made one tackle. He was not responsible for the only goal given up by the Boys in Gold, a set-piece header.
He is the 11th selection for Nashville this season, with Joe Willis getting the nod after Week Three, Alex Muyl joining Zimmerman on the TOTW after Week Four, Hany Mukhtar after a brace in Week Seven and an MLS-record hat trick in Week 13, Luke Haakenson for his two-goal heroics in Week Nine, Randall Leal in Week Ten, striker CJ Sapong after weeks 15 and 19, and Robert Castellanos in Week 16.
