From Club release:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 14, 2021) – Nashville Soccer Club announced today it has loaned midfielder Irakoze Donasiyano to OKC Energy FC of the USL Championship.
Donasiyano, who signed his Major League Soccer contract with Nashville SC on April 28, was originally selected from the University of Virginia on Jan. 21 with the 20th overall pick and Nashville SC’s first selection in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft, presented by adidas.
The 23-year-old midfielder made his MLS debut on June 18 in a road contest against the New York Red Bulls, logging 27 minutes as a second half substitute.
Nashvillle SC release
Donasiyano has the ability to play as a holding midfielder or fullback, playing the former in his only appearance for Nashville SC to date. With Anibal Godoy and Dax McCarty both healthy and present (Godoy went to the Gold Cup with Panama and strained a hamstring there), the emergence of Tah Brian Anunga and continued success of Matt LaGrassa combine to make minutes very hard to come by for the rookie.
Sending him to an Oklahoma City Energy team that is just below the playoff line in USL Championship’s Central Division should provide Donasiyano the opportunity to continue getting more minutes. NSC General Manager Mike Jacobs has typically found loan destinations that provide exactly the sort of playing environment to improve aspects of an individual’s game that help him succeed upon return to Music City, and OKC shoulld be just that.
