Per multiple beat reporters covering Inter Miami CF, the team has a virus situation. The Cranes did not travel to Music City with a full squad, and will be without some key performers when (I shudder to bring about bad juju, but: if) they take the field in Nissan Stadium tomorrow evening.
From SBI Soccer‘s Franco Panizo:
And from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s Khobi Price:
At this point, there’s little use in speculating who those five(ish) players are, and which three starters IMCF will be without. It’s worth noting that the team traveled on-schedule to Nashville, so the players in question were left behind in South Florida.
Nashville defeated IMCF 1-0 in Nissan Stadium, and played the Cranes to a scoreless draw in Fort Lauderdale in the last week of August and first week of September, respectively. Both teams have seen roster additions since then (Nashville SC traded for winger Handwalla Bwana and secured a loan for striker Jhonder Cádiz, while IMCF signed striker Gonzalo Higuaín), but Nashville already had the upper hand. If Miami is missing multiple key pieces, Diego Alonso’s side faces an uphill battle to even the ledger.
