From Club release:
NASHVILLE (Feb. 14, 2018) – Nashville SC of the United Soccer League (USL) announced
another stop on its #DriveToNissan for its home opener on March 24. The club will play
Lipscomb University on its campus on March 1 at 4 p.m. in a preseason tune up two days before Nashville SC travels to FC Cincinnati.
“It is a pleasure to play against such a successful local university here in Nashville,” said
Nashville SC head coach Gary Smith. “This gives us a great opportunity to continue to evaluate the depth we have on our roster.”
“We are excited to be a part in preparing Nashville SC for its first season as a professional club,” said Lipscomb head coach Charles Morrow. “The energy and momentum behind soccer in Nashville right now is unprecedented. We are also preparing for our 2018 fall season. Having the opportunity to play a professional side is a barometer for us right now as players are taking on new roles in our spring season.”
Lipscomb is coming off its best season in program history, winning its first ASUN Conference Championship and making the NCAA Tournament in 2017.
While this game is not included the Nashville SC season ticket package, tickets to the game are available now through Lipscomb Athletics ticket website at http://www.lipscombsports.com/tickets.
It’ll be a homecoming for new keeper signing Micah Bledsoe, who graduated from Lipscomb at the conclusion of the Fall 2016 season. It’s also a very welcome indicator (along with the Chattanooga friendly just over a week later) of willingness to support lower levels of soccer in the state.
