Conference alignment released: Nashville SC in the East

2018 USL Schedule Conference Alignment Soccer

The USL is still dragging its feet (thanks to some potential defections from NASL throwing a wrench in the the works) on releasing a 2018 schedule, but the conference alignment is here. Nashville SC will be in the Eastern Conference:

2018 USL Conference Alignment
Eastern Conference

Charleston Battery
Charlotte Independence
FC Cincinnati
Indy Eleven
Louisville City FC
Nashville SC
New York Red Bulls II
North Carolina FC
Ottawa Fury FC

Toronto FC II

Western Conference
Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC
Fresno FC
LA Galaxy II
Las Vegas Lights FC

Orange County SC
Phoenix Rising FC
Portland Timbers 2
Real Monarchs SLC
Reno 1868 FC
Rio Grande Valley FC
Sacramento Republic FC
Saint Louis FC
San Antonio FC
Seattle Sounders FC 2
Swope Park Rangers
Tulsa Roughnecks FC

Atlanta United 2 (in a precursor of the MLS rivalry with the senior team in a couple years), FC Cincinnati, Indy 11, Louisville City FC, and North Carolina FC are among the potential regional(ish) rivals in the first year of competition.

FC Cincinnati and ATL UTD2 seem the most rivalry-tastic, what with the expansion jealousy (or lack of credentials, from the FCC side of things) playing into the former, and the future MLS rivalry and being the South’s Team going into the latter.

The season is slated for a 34-game regular-season schedule, in the past home-and-away with each conference team and a handful of cross-conference games (with 16 teams in the East, that would mean 30 conference games and a non-conference slate of four). The USL schedule is still tentatively expected at some point next week.
