Nashville SC

Photos from the fairgrounds stadium site

OK, I already did the joke thing (though it must be noted that a serious version of the same concept is probably in the cards for the future), and it’s time to start actually getting into the nitty-gritty of an MLS team in Nashville.

Nashville SC Nashville Fairgrounds stadium
See? It’s right there!

There’s the official rendering, but what does that site look like today? If by “today” you mean “one day last week,” you’re in luck!

Here are several photos of the fairgrounds site as it currently stands. They’re taken mostly from around the back portion of the site (the two foreground sides and the side clockwise from them in the rendering above), and are mostly of the buildings/sheds that would be razed in order to build the stadium.

As you can see, not an area that’s in super-great shape as it stands today. Regardless of what happened to this area, something was necessary. It should come as no surprise that I (or anyone who’s going to read this site, frankly) have firmly believed that a soccer stadium was and is the right decision.

There’s been no announcement of a groundbreaking – nor was there a timeline laid out in the Metro Council Resolution passed – but watching this site grow and evolve when that does come to fruition should be an exciting part of adding an MLS team in Nashville.
