Nashville SC release
Meyer played both as a central midfielder and a centerback during his career with the Bears. At 6-2, 175 pounds, he could project to either at the next level, though given Nashville SC’s history, it’s more likely he ends up a ball-playing CB than slotting into the midfield.
He was the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2023, the first-ever Cal player to earn that honor. While the Bears finished 3-4-3 in the league and 7-6-5 overall, they tied for the conference’s fewest goals conceded. In 58 college appearances over four years, Meyer played 4137 minutes and scored four goals and added six assists.
Meyer’s parents are both former college athletes, with his mother a Cal alum who was also a Bears’ women’s soccer assistant coach, and his father a D-III soccer and lacrosse player at Lake Forest College outside of Chicago.
Stay tuned for more to come.
