Nashville SC signs Adem Sipic, first Homegrown in club history

Nashville SC has signed one of the original NSC Academy players to a senior contract. Froward Adem Sipic, who joined from Bowling Green Elite, will be the first player to come through the pipeline to become a full professional.

Sipic has spent the 2023 season to date with Huntsville City FC, making his debut as a 74th-minute substitute in the club’s inaugural match. He scored his first goal over the weekend in the club’s 4-2 win against St. Louis CITY SC.

Born April 6, 2006, Sipic becomes – by a wide margin – the youngest player ever on a senior contract for Nashville SC. While he is still a ways away from working into the starting lineup for the Boys in Gold, or even seeing the field for the senior team, the move is a big one not just for the player himself, but the future of the franchise.

Nashville has long made no secret of the fact that there’s an intention to develop players, not just acquire those who are already professionals (or graduating from college via the SuperDraft). However, the reality of the base of talent available in the mid-South makes that a difficult proposition. That the first Homegrown is not only a player coming out of the Academy, but one who is from within an hour’s drive of Nashville, is a major feather in the cap of that effort.
