Nashville SC release

Fairly straightforward, and as always the financials are one important piece of the puzzle. The going rate for an international slot for a single season has been anywhere from $175-$250k (the former is the price that Nashville spent to get one from Cincinnati April 19, and though a few went for a little cheaper when the window , they were around the latter number in preseason), so to get just over 1.5 seasons – depending on when NSC actually uses it – for $270k is either a sliiiight deal or right in line with the market rate (with the wiggle room of individual team situations/needs explaining some slight variability).

As for the use of it… certainly we’re seeing via a combination of different mechanisms that Nashville SC seems poised to use an international slot (the post you’re reading right now) to acquire a Designate Player (peace out, Ake Loba) striker. That can happen at any time with a guy who’s out of contract, or can happen via transfer when the window re-opens July 5.
