After scoring what was ultimately the game-winning goal against former Eastern Conference No. 1 CF Montreal, Nashville SC attacker Hany Mukhtar has been named to the Week 12 MLS Team of the Week. Wingback Alex Muyl, who opened the scoring in the 2-1 win with a blast from the top of the box, was named to the bench.
In addition to his 51st-minute goal – the culmination of a transition opportunity he combined with striker CJ Sapong to create – Mukhtar took two other shots, one on target. He completed 29/35 passes among his 55 total touches, and was fouled twice. He was shown a yellow card for a first-half simulation infraction.
Muyl was named to the MLS Team of the Week one year and nine days ago, his only such honor since joining Nashville SC midway through the 2020 season.
It is the eighth Team of the Week selection for Nashville so far this season, and Mukhtar’s second honor, having previously been named to the Week Eight squad. Midfielder Aníbal Godoy and head coach Gary Smith earned the honor in Week One, Walker Zimmerman got the nod after Week Four, Dave Romney and Randall Leal in Week Six, and Romney again in Week 10.
