A second Nashville SC signing of the secondary transfer window is imminent, as reported by MLSSoccer.com colleague Tom Bogert. Goalkeeper Brady Scott, a 21-year old goalkeeper who has spent the past three years in Germany with FC Köln, is that choice.
The 6-2 California native started two group-stage games in last Summer’s U-20 World Cup for the Red, White and Blue, as well as the knockout stage victory over France (Real Salt Lake’s David Ochoa started both the third group-stage game and the quarterfinal loss to Ecuador). Allowing four total goals, he made nine saves in the tournament for a save percentage of 69.2%.
In Germany, he’s almost exclusively played with FC Köln II (the rest of his on-field time came with the U-19 squad), participating in the Regionalliga West in the fourth tier of the German soccer pyramid. With Köln II, he allowed 60 goals in 29 appearances (2.1 per contest) for what appears to be a pretty bad reserve squad – 65 goals allowed in the 27 games he didn’t play (2.4 per game) indicates they just leak goals all around.
He’s certainly a prospect for the future. It’s possible (or even likely) that he is loaned out, or there is a different player loaned or sold from the current roster. Adrian Zendejas has appeared on the bench twice behind starter Joe Willis, while rookie Elliot Panicco received his firsrt bench appearance Wednesday evening in NSC’s win over FC Dallas.
