Nashville SC triumphant in preseason, 4-1 over Louisville City FC

The first win in Nashville SC’s club history is in the books. A 4-1 friendly victory over Louisville City FC won’t count in the standings, but it certainly will feel good for the Boys in Gold to be on the right end of a result, unofficial though it may be.

Winger Randall Leal picked up where he left off in Thursday’s game against Chicago Fire FC, scoring for the second consecutive contest. He got it done early, just three minutes after the starting whistle blew. That was followed by a first-half tally for striker Daniel Ríos, who finished service from right winger Alan Winn on the edge of the six-yard box.

Louisville would pull one back in the 30th minute, courtesy of midfielder Abdou Thiam Mbacke.

The second half would – for the third time in three games – bring mass substitutions for a Nashville SC side that rested projected starting keeper Joe Willis and attacking midfielder Hany Mukhtar after both went 45 minutes against Chicago mid-week. The second crew didn’t miss a beat.

Rookie SuperDraft pick Alistair Johnston won a penalty and veteran David Accam finished the deed midway through the half, and striker Abu Danladi broke in behind the defense and took his time in finishing a chance close to the final whistle to provide the final 4-1 scoreline.

The win moves Nashville to 1-1-1 halfway through its preseason, with three games against MLS competition remaining. NSC takes on Montreal Impact Wednesday and FC Cincinnati Sunday before wrapping up with a friendly against DC United the following Wednesday. All three games – as has been the case with the first three on the slate – take place in locations through the Tampa Bay Area in Southwest Florida.
