Nashville SC

Halftime reset: Atlanta United 0-2 Nashville SC

If not for last week’s late collapse, Nashville SC would feel like it’s cruising. The Boys in Gold are ahead on an Atlanta United 2 own goal, a Matt LaGrassa snipe, and a lengthy weather delay.

NSC started the scoring without touching the ball on a possession, with Atlanta defensive midfielder Will Vint attempting a backpass to his keeper Brendan Moore… and instead tucking it nicely into the bottom-left corner of his goal. Nashville midfielder Matt LaGrassa added a second in the 11th minute, striking from outside the box into the Atlanta net.

Lightning saw the game halted for several minutes shortly thereafter, and when play resumed, neither team could find a realistic shot on goal. for now, Nashville will head to the locker room intent on solidifying its lead in the game, and hoping to consolidate what has been a relatively dominant performance to date.

Of course, ceding two goals after the 87th minute last week will have NSC feeling like the deed isn’t done – and like there’s no luxury of being complacent and letting Atlanta back into the contest – but for now, things are solidly in control of the team from Music City.
